The NEW Way to Play Fantasy Football: How It Works
FHD is proud to announce the arrival of its Patent-Pending Precision
LeaguesTM, the new way to play
Fantasy Football. Here is how it works, in a nutshell.
Precision
Leagues and Scoring
Public/Private Leagues
Bottom Feeder and Playoff Leagues
PRECISION LEAGUESTM
AND SCORING
- In Precision Leagues, you are the Expert! Your objective
is to predict the performance of NFL players in games that week as
accurately as possible. You work with different players each
week. Leagues are set up with an even number of players, and
it's head-to-head competition, with the winner of each game being
the one who most accurately predicts the performance of the players
dealt to him. League standings are based on won-loss records
as the season progresses.
- Each week, a different set of NFL players are dealt to each member
of the league. Once your players are dealt, your job is to accurately
project the performance of each player. You conduct research
and analysis and enter predictions for offensive performance for each
player you were dealt.
- After the games are completed, FHD scores the actual performance of the dealt
players using standard fantasy football scoring. The key number is the OFF-BY SCORETM.
This, as it sounds, is the number of fantasy points you were "off
by" and an indicator of how well you projected each player's performance.
The closer your projections were to actual player performance, the
lower your score will be.
- The Off-By Scores for all your dealt players are added to determine
your Total Off-By Score for the Week. The lowest Off-By Score
wins.
- Think of it as golf - the lower the score for each hole (or each
NFL player) the better. The cumulative score for all holes (or
the total Off-By Score for all players) determines the winner - the
lower the better.
- The season goes along in the normal way, with head-to-head competition,
wins and losses, and standings. No need to worry about injuries,
bye weeks, waiver wires, trades, or last-minute scratches. The
FHD system handles all of it.
- New leagues can be started at anytime (see
Bottom Feeder Leagues below). If
you have a Premium Membership, you can use
the Fantasy Expert Rankings to help make
your projections.
- At the end of the year, you will be able to convert your regular
season FHD Precision League to a new Playoff League in a snap.
- That's it. It takes a small amount of getting used to, but
it's very intuitive and it comes quickly. You'll soon find yourself
watching NFL games with a completely new and fresh perspective.
One minute you're rooting for your QB to throw a TD (you need 6 points)
and the next you're hoping for a three-and-out (because you're sitting
on zero Off-By points for that player!).
PUBLIC / PRIVATE LEAGUES
- FHD offers both Public and Private Leagues. Either of these
leagues can be started during any week of the NFL regular season.
- FHD Public leagues have 8 members, are open to anybody, and are
filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Public leagues are
available for Bragging
Rights. With a Free FHD Membership,
you can access one Public Bragging Rights League.
- FHD Private Leagues are created by FHD members with a
Basic or Premium Membership. Private
Leagues must have an even number of players and can consist of 2-12
members. The person creating a Private League is the commissioner.
BOTTOM FEEDER AND PLAYOFF LEAGUES
- FHD Bottom Feeder Leagues - Starting up in November (actually
they can be started anytime, but November is when people typically
start to lose interest in their traditional FFL teams), these are
a fun way to regenerate interest in FFL when things aren't going so
well. Bottom Feeder leagues are for those who have lost interest
in their traditional FFL team(s) during the course of the year because
they are low in the standings, but still want the excitement of FFL.
Because of the way FHD Precision Leagues are designed, these players
can jump right over to FHD (or from another FHD league) at any time
of the year and start fresh. Bottom Feeder Leagues are like
any other FHD Precision League - they just take advantage of FHD's
ability to start a new league at any time.
- FHD Playoff Leagues - Typically in traditional FFL, the
last four weeks of the regular NFL season are the FFL playoffs.
This is necessary because a minimum number of NFL players are required
to play FFL. This leaves a FFL void come NFL playoff time.
But with the unique design of FHD Precision Leagues, you will be able
to play FFL during the NFL playoffs by participating in FHD Playoff
Leagues. You will be able to instantly turn your regular-season
FHD Precision League into a Playoff league (starting fresh), or create
(or even join) a new one. Playoff Leagues can be either Money
Leagues or for Bragging Rights.
