What is unique about Fantasy
Hound Dog?
Fantasy Hound Dog (FHD) is the only website that
you can play Fantasy Football a whole, new exciting
way using FHD Precision LeaguesTM
and get week-to-week rankings
of Fantasy Football experts.
What is a FHD Precision LeagueTM?
It's a new, exciting, and challenging way to play
Fantasy Football. In a traditional league, you
act as an owner or manager. You obtain players
through the draft and via waiver wire transactions
and trades. Notwithstanding these transactions,
you have essentially the same core team all year.
The problem occurs when key players are injured or
don't play well, and you're not able to compensate,
usually because there is no suitable alternate or
someone beat you to the punch. As a result,
very good fantasy football players sometimes end up
in the bottom part of their leagues due to circumstances
beyond their control. With
FHD Precision LeaguesTM
you are an expert, not a manager. You get different
players every week (as do all the other members of
your league), and your job is to accurately predict
the performance of those players in head-to-head matchup
with other league members. There are a number
of benefits to playing this way. Click here
for more information on FHD Precision
LeaguesTM.
Do I have to have other league
members lined up to play?
No. FHD offers both Public and Private Leagues.
Public leagues consist of 8 teams and members are
assigned to leagues as they sign up. However,
you can create a Private FHD league with 2-12 people
(even numbers only).

Are FHD
Precision LeaguesTM
harder and more time-consuming that traditional leagues?
Frankly, it's the same as traditional FFL leagues
- it depends on how you approach it. Some people
spend only a few minutes on their traditional teams;
some spend hours. The more you put into it,
the better you will do. The main advantage of
FHD Precision Leagues is that, although you look at
match-ups for new players every week, it's more exciting
and challenging and you don't have to spend dealing
with injuries, trades, and waiver wire transactions.
To get started, you don't even have to bother with
preparing for a draft.
Does it cost anything to join
FHD, play FFL the new way, or take advantage of FHD
Expert Rankings?
There are various levels of FHD memberships, starting
with FREE. You can play in one Public Precision
League at no cost. With a Basic Membership ($9.95
for the entire year) you can play in an unlimited
number of leagues and create up to 10 leagues.
A Premium Membership ($14.95 for the entire year)
includes access to the FHD Expert Rankings.
(For more info, see How it
Works.)
What are "Bottom Feeder" Leagues?
Bottom Feeder Leagues are for those who, for reasons
beyond their control (or for reasons within their
control) have lost interest in their traditional FFL
team(s) during the course of the year because they
are low in the standings, but still want the excitement
of FFL. Because of the way FHD Precision Leagues
are designed, these players can jump right over to
FHD at any time of the year and start fresh.

What are "Playoff Leagues"?
Typically in traditional FFL, the last four weeks
of the regular NFL season are the FFL playoffs.
This is necessary because a minimum number of NFL
players are required to be playing. This leaves
a FFL void come NFL playoff time. But with the
unique design of FHD Precision Leagues, you can play
FFL during the NFL playoffs by participating in FHD
Playoff Leagues. You will be able to instantly
turn your regular-season FHD Precision League into
a Playoff league (starting fresh), or create (or even
join) a new one. It's another distinct advantage
to being an FHD member.
When is the deadline for joining
FHD and getting a Precision League going?
There isn't one. Because there is no draft
and you're predicting the performance of different
NFL players every week, you can start or join a league
whenever you want to.

How do you actually rank Fantasy
Football Experts?
FHD uses proprietary algorithms to compare expert
predictions with actual performance to determine the
Expert Accuracy Score (EASTM)
for each expert ranked. Emphasis is placed on
the expert's ability to predict the performance of
"value" players, those that you typically have the
hardest time deciding whether to play or not.
For example, you don't need an expert to tell you
to start Peyton Manning, or to sit the 3rd string
running back for the Detroit Lions. So experts
don't get credit for these types of predictions.
But they do get credit for consistently and accurately
predicting the performance of that large number of
value players - the #2 wide receivers, the backup
running back that has a chance to get a lot of carries,
those "I need a plug-in" quarterbacks.

on how FHD Expert Rankings work.
Which experts are included
in the FHD Rankings?
You can view all included experts, and go directly
to their pages, from our
Who We're Tracking
page.
Should I use FHD to decide
which experts to use?
FHD ranks fantasy football experts on their player
projections. However, many of the expert sites
provide much more than than player projections.
So when choosing a fantasy expert, you should certainly
consider how well they project player performance
(and because of FHD now you can!). But you should
also consider the other benefits they offer to help
determine which expert is right for you.

Why would an expert want to
be included in the FHD rankings?
There are many reasons an expert would want to be
included. First of all, being included in FHD
enhances their credibility and value because they
can point to FHD as proof of their expertise.
Additionally, FHD provides experts valuable marketing
opportunities since FHD links directly to their site.
Further, FHD recognizes the Top 10 Fantasy Experts
every week and provides them with a custom logo to
display on their site as more evidence of their expertise.
Finally, FHD gives experts an opportunity to independently
evaluate themselves against their competition, and
look for ways to get even better at making fantasy
predictions. This last item is very important
because it adds value to the entire fantasy football
community.
What's the best way to use
FHD Expert Rankings?
The best way to use FHD is to look for trends that
help you pick the best experts for you. Here
are some examples of things to look for.
- Which experts have the highest overall rankings
and repeatedly show up in the Weekly Top 10?
- Which experts show a high level of performance
week-to-week? You can find this out by hovering
over the Overall ranking number on the main Expert
Ranking graph.
- Which experts are best at picking the positions
(e.g., QB, RB, WR, TE) that you struggle with on
a week-to-week basis? You can do this from
the FHD Control Panel.
- Which experts are best at predicting the performance
of the specific players on your fantasy football
team?
- Which experts are best at predicting sleepers?
Again, you can do this using the FHD Control Panel.

What
do the experts think about FHD? Do they have
any choice about being ranked?
We have reached out to all the experts in our
rankings and are working with them as partners in
the fantasy football community. The reaction
to FHD was overwhelmingly positive. Experts
have the option of not being included in the FHD Expert
Rankings.
If one of my experts requests
to not be included in the FHD rankings, how will I
know that?
In order to avoid confusion and repeated requests
to include them in FHD experts who request to be removed
from the rankings will be listed on the
Who We're Tracking
page. Top
Are their copyright issues
with FHD discussing expert predictions?
No, because you cannot read the actual content of
the experts' sites - the copyrighted material - on
the FHD site. It is similar to a book or movie
reviewer. Although we cannot reproduce their
material, we are free to express our opinions on it
(or better, our analysis of it). We have gone
through great lengths to ensure that there are no
issues on this point, including linking directly to
experts' sites whenever possible, and offering experts
the right to be removed from the site if they feel
differently.
What's with the dog?
We are proud of our mascot, John Adams. He is
named in honor of the 2nd President of the United
States and author of our favorite quote - "facts
are stubborn things." We like this quote
because it underscores that the information provided
in FHD Expert Rankings is based on facts, not subjective
opinions. You can read a little more about the
real John Adams, including the origin of the quote,
on our John Adams page.

How do I get started with FHD
Precision Leagues?
It's a simple as can be. No need to prepare
for a draft, because there isn't one. You
just join FHD, select a Membership level (you can
always upgrade), and then either join or create a
league. For Private Leagues, the creator
of the league is the commissioner (it can be changed)
and the league can be set up in minutes. For
Public Leagues, you just request to join one and FHD
will notify you when the league is full and you're
ready to go. All you have to focus on is being
an expert!
