What Is Fantasy Hound Dog?

Welcome to "The Dog of a New Era" in fantasy football.  It's the only place you will find two new concepts in Fantasy Football.

  • A whole new way to play FFL
  • Fantasy Expert Rankings

A Whole New Way to Play FFL!
Fantasy Football really hasn't changed much over the years.  And that's not a bad thing - all of us here at FHD love the traditional way of playing FFL and look forward to it every year.  But the fact is that for many FFL players, it gets kind of boring after a few weeks - especially if things didn't work out in the draft, key players get injured, or you don't have time to work the waiver wire.  And even if their traditional FFL teams are going well, many FFL players are ready for something new and challenging.

FHD is where you can find it.  In traditional FFL, you are like a managers or an owner.  You draft, trade, set rosters based on available players, match-ups, and expert advice, and hope for the best. But much is out of your control and can wreck your entire season.  Your best player gets injured.  Someone with more time on their hands than you grabs the backup, or grabs the break-out rookie (e.g., Marques Colston in 2006).  The next thing you know, you're in 7th place and it's not looking good.  But you know you're better than that, and you're not ready to give up on playing fantasy football for the rest of the year.

Welcome to FHD Precision LeaguesTM!  With FHD Precision Leagues, you're not an owner/manager - you're the expert!  Each week, everyone in your league is "dealt" a set of NFL players.  (Each league member is dealt a different set of players, and the players being dealt can even be customized.)  Your job is to predict the performance of these NFL players better than your opponents.  It's new and exciting, and there are huge advantages to playing FFL the FHD way.

  • It's challenging - it might take a bit more thinking, but it's worth it if you're up to it.  If you're not already an expert, you will become one!

  • You spend more time doing the fun things about FFL - the extra time you might spend analyzing match-ups for different players is offset by not having to constantly monitor waiver wires and trade offers and deal with injuries.

  • You get a fresh start every week - you don't have to worry about making a mistake in the draft, not being able to track the waiver wire, or key players being injured.  All you have to do is be an expert.

  • There is no draft - as such, you can start or join a FHD Precision League with no effort at all, anytime of the year, including mid-season when it's no longer interesting.

  • Leagues can be created with as little as 2 people.

  • FHD offers a way to play FFL during the actual NFL playoffs.

League Types
FHD offers various types of leagues to accommodate all types of players.  (All are FHD Precision Leagues.)

  • Public Leagues - for those who don't have a group of players to play with, but want to play FFL the new way.  All Public leagues consist of eight (8) members.  You can join one Public League for free.

  • Private Leagues - for those who have a group ready to go.  You can create a Private league with as little as 2 members (even numbers only).  A Basic or Premium FHD Membership is required to create or join Private Leagues.

  • Bragging Rights Leagues - members play for fun and bragging rights. .

Fantasy Expert Rankings
FHD was the first - and is still the only - place where you can find out how well Fantasy Experts predict the performance of players on a week-to-week basis.  FHD launched this first-ever service last year and it's the origin of the Fantasy Hound Dog name.  Our mascot is proudly named John Adams, after the 2nd President of the United States because of their common trait of tenaciously "sniffing out the facts."

FHD uses proprietary algorithms to compare expert predictions with actual performance to determine the Expert Accuracy Score (EASTM) for each expert ranked.  By using the FHD Expert Rankings, you can determine which experts provide the best combination performance and value, and make the most out of your time and money.  The bottom line is by using FHD expert rankings, you can do a better job of setting your rosters and have a better chance to dominate your league (and let's face it, we all want to dominate our league).
